The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) paid a huge chunk of Rs 2 billion as tax money to the national kitty during season eight of the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Najam Sethi, gave the rundown to the 'national assembly standing committee' on 'Inter-Provincial Coordination' (IPC), headed by its chairman Nawab Sher.

Chairman PCB informed the committee that the board is putting its best efforts into resuscitating domestic and international cricket in the country but, most importantly, revitalizing and strengthening cricket clubs.

Sethi reinstated that they are trying bring back departments in domestic cricket and is looking to revolutionize its structure and functioning, which was previously disintegrated by the former management.

PCB chief also briefed the committee that the PCB does not take any grants or funds from the federal government of Pakistan. They are more inclined towards generating their own revenues and then subsequently reinvesting them in the development of cricket throughout the country at all levels.

In addition to his brief, Sethi claimed that PCB paid a large sum of Rs 2 billion in terms of tax during HBL PSL 8. He further added that the board is headed towards the reinvigoration of women's cricket. PCB has allocated a budget of Rs 7 billion for the 'Women's League.' 

Furthermore, regarding the rehabilitation and development of Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad - the committee was informed of how the civil administration of Hyderabad took it back without any prior notice or warning in 2018.

Sethi emphasized that current PCB management wants to take over the stadium for further development.

The national assembly committee directed the management of PCB to arrange a meeting with the district administration, Hyderabad, to resolve the issue of the administrative charge of Niaz Stadium.
