The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provided a major update on the injury status of opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, confirming that neither player will be available for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand.

Saim Ayub has been sidelined since January after suffering a right ankle fracture during Pakistan's Test series against South Africa. The injury has kept him out of the ongoing ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, and he is still in recovery.

Speaking about Ayub’s situation, the PCB stated, "Saim is still recovering from his ankle injury."

Fakhar Zaman, who was initially included in Pakistan's Champions Trophy squad, was forced to withdraw after sustaining an injury in the opening match against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi.

The PCB confirmed that Fakhar suffered a left lower intercostal muscle sprain, and he is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
