Left-handed opener is set to return home from New Zealand
Opener Imamul Haq is set to return home and will take no further part in Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand, after he failed to recover from a fractured left thumb.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, the left-hander will leave for Lahore, from Auckland, tomorrow.
Meanwhile, skipper Babar Azam, who missed the T20I series and first Test against New Zealand due to a fracture in his right thumb, rehab from injury is continuing well and he is now practicing with a hard ball. The decision about his participation in the second Test will be taken closer to date.
The second Test between the two sides will take place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch from January 3-7.
