The governing board has rejected the request of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises to increase the gate money share of the event.

According to sources, the move has been made to teach a lesson to the franchises, which have been demanding more concessions. The previous concessions made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the franchises also appear to be under threat.

The franchises have asked the PCB to refrain from cashing in the cheques submitted by them while asking for more time. The PCB had previously accepted the demand of increasing share of the gate money for the franchises to 70 per cent. Currently, the franchises get 60 per cent of the gate money while the PCB receives 40 per cent.

The governing board, however, decided that the current share is adequate. An official, while asking to remain anonymous, revealed that the decision was taken inorder to teach a lesson to the franchises. The officials were unhappy with the attitude of the franchises which is why the governing board was used for the decision.

The franchise owners are currently thinking about reaching out to Prime Minister Imran Khan inorder to reach a satisfactory resolution of their demands.
