Fortunately, no players were harmed, as the PCB swiftly evacuated the five players present at the time of the fire
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made the decision to curtail the National Women’s One-Day Tournament 2024-25 after a fire incident occurred at the team hotel. Fortunately, no players were harmed, as the PCB swiftly evacuated the five players present at the time of the fire and relocated them to the safety of the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre.
On Monday, four teams were engaged in the fifth-round matches, while Strikers were conducting a separate training session. The incident prompted the PCB to prioritize the safety and well-being of all involved, leading to the decision to shorten the tournament. The unavailability of alternative accommodations that met the required standards for approximately 100 rooms further contributed to the decision.
With the health and safety of the players being the PCB's utmost concern, the board has announced that the tournament will conclude with a final between the top two teams, Invincibles and Stars, who had each played four matches. The date and venue for the final will be confirmed and announced in the near future.
