Pakistan has reportedly decided not to play any matches in India over the next three years
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains steadfast in its position regarding the Champions Trophy, refusing to back down on its principled stance.
According to PCB sources, the final decision on the mega cricketing event now rests with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Pakistan has reportedly decided not to play any matches in India over the next three years. Instead, under the proposed "Fusion Model," Pakistan and India will face each other at neutral venues for ICC matches.
Sources confirm that the PCB is unwilling to compromise on its position. Earlier reports indicated that the BCCI had agreed to the Fusion Model for the Champions Trophy but was unwilling to apply the same formula to its own events.
Indian media claims suggest that during ICC events hosted in India, Pakistan's group matches could be played at neutral venues. However, if Pakistan qualifies for the semifinals or finals, it would need to play in India. Reports also indicate that if Pakistan boycotts ICC events in India, it could face legal action from the ICC and its broadcasters.
The PCB has presented the Fusion Model for ICC events scheduled in India over the next three years, including the Champions Trophy. The model proposes that if India refuses to play in Pakistan, Pakistan will also decline to send its team to India. The PCB has made it clear that it will not waver from its stance, emphasizing that its principles take precedence in these negotiations.
