PCB has implemented very strict anti-corruption measures in the PSL
Once again, in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), no Integrity Officers have been appointed with the teams.
All anti-corruption matters are being handled solely by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in this year's PSL. However, for security matters, a foreign company is actively working alongside the board.
According to details, the PCB has implemented very strict anti-corruption measures in the PSL. After a few incidents in the early years, no major cases have surfaced in recent seasons. Initially, the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit was also involved, but that practice has now been discontinued. Sources said that this time as well, no Integrity Officers have been placed with the teams. Previously, an official would accompany each team to protect players from suspicious individuals, often preferring former officers of security agencies for this role.
Sources revealed that this year, the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Department alone is overseeing all matters. Its officials are present at team hotels too, performing their duties discreetly without drawing attention. All teams have been given lectures on anti-corruption protocols and were shown documents and videos to help them identify suspicious individuals and stay away from them.
PCB sources stated that the appointment of Integrity Officers was discontinued from last year. Being a domestic event, there is no need to involve the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit, and the PCB’s own department is managing everything.
Its officials remain in contact with the council year-round, keeping themselves updated on all relevant matters. So far, no reports of any suspicious activities have been received. During the event, international cricket-level protocols are in place.
For security matters, a foreign company is also working with the board, which provides services to the ICC and other cricket boards as well. This is one of the reasons why foreign cricketers feel reassured.
