Board will take this step if franchises fail to clear their dues
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has threatened to impose late surcharges on daily bases if franchises failed to clear their dues by the deadline.
According to Daily Express — with almost 22 days remaining in the start of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season — four several franchises hasn’t cleared their dues yet. Even some of them are yet to pay their annual fee.
A few franchises have deposited their post-dated cheques, from which one of the cheque was bounced due to insufficient funds.
The board had decided to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) but decided against it as it would have affected the league.
In last governing council meeting, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani had asked franchises to clear their dues. However, till this day, they are still not cleared.
Sources have confirmed that they will impose late surcharge on daily bases. Although, it is part of the contract but a few franchises have raised their concerns about it.
Concerned franchises are of the view that they are already facing huge financial loses so delay in payment should not be a big issue. The board should give them more time so they can clear their dues.
The PSL season four will start from February 14 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and eight matches of the league including playoff, eliminator and final will be played in Pakistan.
