PCB to probe Inzamam regarding stake in players’ agent’s firm

The Chief Selector of the Pakistan cricket team, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has come under scrutiny as it has been revealed that he is a shareholder in "Yazo International Limited," a company owned by players' agent Talha Rehmani. 

This revelation has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, as Rehmani represents some of Pakistan's top cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Moreover, further questioning has arisen whether Inzamam's role as both Chief Selector and a shareholder in a company representing top cricketers could influence player selection decisions.

This controversy comes on the heels of significant differences between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and players regarding central contracts. 

While speaking to a local news channel, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, Zaka Ashraf, has hinted at initiating an investigation into Inzamam's alleged involvement with a players' agent's firm amid concerns of a possible conflict of interest in the national team's selection process.

"Surely, it looks like a conflict of interest. We will call the chief selector and ask him to clarify whether this news is correct or not. But it seems like if Talha has controlled seven to eight players, then he must be the one behind the selection as well. We will ask the chief selector to explain," Zaka said.

Talha, the players' agent in question, reportedly manages several players who have represented Pakistan on the international stage, leading to speculations that his influence might extend to player selections.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have set up a five-member fact finding committee to investigate allegations in respect of conflict of interest reported in the media pertaining to the team selection process.

The committee will submit its report and any recommendations to the PCB Management in an expeditious manner.
