Shahid Afridi has also voiced his discontent with Haris Rauf’s decision to miss the upcoming Australia series
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that it will not take any action against fast bowler Haris Rauf for his decision to pull out from the upcoming three-match Test series against Australia.
PCB Director Media, Aalia Rasheed, in an interview, confirmed that Haris Rauf will be considered for the upcoming limited overs series against New Zealand.
According to Rasheed, PCB's newly-appointed Team Director, Mohammad Hafeez, and Chief Selector Wahab Riaz advocate for comprehensive player development, expressing the importance of players being ready for all formats.
"Wahab Riaz is a chief selector, he did a very good press conference. He is very confident and the best thing he said was if a player isn't available for Pakistan, then it isn't a good thing. We will tell them clearly that they are not just here to play the leagues, yes they should play them it is their right, but whenever you're called for Pakistan, you should participate. It is kind of an injustice that you are part of central contracts and then say that we will play matches of our choice,” Rasheed said.
Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi has also voiced his discontent with Haris Rauf’s decision to miss the Australia series.
“Haris Rauf wasted the opportunity and he should have travelled to Australia with the Pakistan team. Strangely, the player is refusing to be added to the squad despite requests from the Director of Cricket and Chief Selector,” said Afridi.
