The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the introduction of Dukes and Kookaburra balls for the upcoming Domestic season.

This strategic move aims to enhance the quality of the game and better prepare players for international competitions.

Starting this season, the Dukes ball will be featured in the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and President’s Trophy, Pakistan's premier first-class competitions.

Renowned for its pronounced seam and swing, the Dukes ball provides bowlers with a distinct advantage. It can potentially boost the skills of fast bowlers and create more challenging conditions for batsmen.

“The use of Dukes balls in our premier first-class competitions will help our fast bowlers develop their skills and adapt to challenging conditions. Similarly, the Kookaburra ball in the shorter formats will ensure consistency with international standards, offering our players the best preparation for global tournaments,” a PCB official said.

The PCB has opted for the Kookaburra ball for shorter formats, including One-Day and T20 matches. This ball is widely recognized in international cricket for its consistency and durability, making it an ideal choice for limited-overs formats.

The decision to upgrade the quality of balls follows extensive consultations with ball manufacturers.

The PCB aims to align Pakistan’s domestic cricket standards with those of international cricket, believing that this move will not only improve the domestic game but also better equip players for international matches.
