The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the sparkling "Luminara Trophy" for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Thursday. The tournament, set to begin on April 11, will mark a decade of thrilling T20 action.
The unveiling was captured in a three-minute video, filmed at the scenic coastal waters of Karachi. In a dramatic scene, a professional diver, with the help of the Pakistan Navy, retrieved a treasure chest from the sea and presented the stunning trophy to PSL stakeholders.
The promotional video featured key PCB officials, including Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, representatives from the PSL franchises, and prominent cricketers such as Sarfaraz Ahmed and Rumman Raees.
Naqvi expressed his excitement about the unveiling, stating in a statement released by the PCB, “The unveiling of ‘Luminara’ at sea is a testament to the league’s commitment to innovation and excellence. As we celebrate a decade of HBL PSL, this trophy represents the league’s shining legacy and its bright future.”
The Luminara Trophy, weighing 10 kilograms, is crafted from a single sheet of solid silver. It is adorned with 22,850 high-luster zircon stones and features intricately machined stone settings. The name "Luminara" is derived from the Latin words "luminare," meaning "torch," and "lumens," meaning "light."
The much-anticipated 10th edition of the HBL PSL will kick off on Friday, April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The tournament will feature six teams and a total of 34 matches, running from April 11 to May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the grand final. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 matches, including the first Qualifier on May 13, while Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will each stage five matches.
