Islamabad United captain is hopeful about qualifying for PSL4 play-offs
Islamabad United captain Mohammad Sami is hopeful that his side will qualify for the play-offs of ongoing Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL).
While speaking in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Sami said that his side has no room for error as they gear up to face Lahore Qalandars in the final round-robin stage match of HBL PSL in Karachi.
“We have no option but to win the remaining matches,” said Sami. “Team which peaks at the right moment go on to win and this is exactly the thing we are hoping to do.”
The right-arm pacer was also keen on rectifying the mistakes, they made in the previous matches.
“There is always room for improvement,” he said. “We want to rectify the mistakes we have made in the previous matches.”
He also urged the Karachi locals to turn up in large numbers for matches.
“People of Karachi should come out in large numbers to support the teams,” he said. “Foreign players are excited to play in Pakistan.”
Sami also praised the quality of fast-bowling in the event so far and especially the young Pakistan pacers.
“We have seen quite a few young talented fast-bowlers which is a good sign for Pakistan cricket,” he said. “We need to just groom them and provide them proper guidance in order to succeed at the international level.”
Speaking about the paucity of young quality batsmen, he said: “The pitches were a bit slow and difficult to bat on, in UAE, which is why we did not see many good young batsmen coming through.”
