Peshawar Zalmi has picked explosive Australian batter Mitchell Owen in the Supplementary category for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, following the withdrawal of South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch.

Owen, who made a name for himself by leading Hobart Hurricanes to their first Big Bash League (BBL) title, is known for his explosive batting. His joint-fastest century in the history of the tournament helped his team defeat Sydney Thunder in the final.

Although Owen had registered for the PSL draft, he went unpicked. However, he has now been selected by Peshawar Zalmi in the Supplementary category.

"Supplementary draft pick. All-Rounder Mitchell Owen joins the Zalmi squad for [PSL 10]," the franchise confirmed in an Instagram post, which included an animated poster of Owen.

Owen's inclusion comes just a day after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) served a legal notice to Corbin Bosch for breaching his PSL contract. Bosch, who was selected in the Diamond category by Peshawar Zalmi, withdrew from the tournament to join the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"South Africa’s Corbin Bosch has been served a legal notice by the PCB alleging breach of the all-rounder’s contractual obligations to the PCB," the PCB said in a statement.

PSL 10 is set to begin on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in the opening match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The six-team tournament will feature 34 matches, running from April 11 to May 18.

Peshawar Zalmi’s squad for PSL 10 includes:

  • Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (all Platinum),
  • Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Ali (both Diamond),
  • Hussain Talat, Nahid Rana, and Abdul Samad (all Gold),

  • Ali Raza and Maaz Sadaqat (both Emerging),
  • Mitchell Owen, Ahmed Daniyal, and Alzarri Joseph (all Supplementary)
