It is noteworthy that a PSL exhibition match was scheduled to be held at the Peshawar stadium on April 8, but the match was postponed
The name of Peshawar's Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium has been changed and now bears the name of Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
Despite instructions from PTI founder Imran Khan to retain the original name of the stadium, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has replaced the old sign with a new one that reads "Imran Khan Cricket Stadium."
Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, had issued directions not to change the stadium's name. It is noteworthy that a PSL exhibition match was scheduled to be held at the Peshawar stadium on April 8, but the match was postponed.
Recently, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur approved the name change of the historical Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium to "Imran Khan Cricket Stadium," which sparked a controversy.
Arbab Niaz's son, Arbab Shehzad, the former Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and former adviser to Imran Khan, rejected the decision to rename the stadium. Imran Khan had previously instructed that the stadium’s name should not be changed.
