Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has not transferred the salaries of players representing its sports division due to their regular absence from work.

According to a notification by PIA’s GMIR and Sports Rashid Zafar, the 98 employees working in the sports department have been strictly instructed to regularly mark their attendance.

The employees must ensure their presence by filing attendance through the Time Management System (TMS) machine placed at the Old MT building and the head office.

Players who are away on tour and are unable to mark attendance must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from DGM Sports so that the system is updated accordingly. Earlier, the players were immune from such a requirement due to a written order which expired on March 7; consequently meaning that salaries for April were withheld.

The administration department has made progress in this regard and it is expected that the dues will be cleared till Monday.

It must be noted that many of the sports’ former and current professionals, including cricketers Wasim Akram and Moin Khan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Faisal Iqbal, Olympians Saleem Sherwani, Naeem Akhtar, Kamran Ashraf and Irfan along with eight members of physio Eric Johnson group are all associated with the international carrier.
