Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has said that the fear of defeat in the series against Australia has to be taken out of the mind.

While interacting to reporters in Lahore, the 40-year old also commented that players should think of the team first.

"The fear of defeat should be taken out of the mind while competing against Australia, our cricket can not improve unless you think about the team first. To make a place in fans' hearts, you have to win matches with your performance," Akmal added.

Kamranalso gave his best wishes to the Pakistan team for the ongoing series against Australia and blamed the mindset and approach as the reason for the loss of the Test series.

"I wish the Pakistan team all the best and hope we win the series".

"Mindset is essential in cricket. The kind of mindset we showed by preparing such pitches caused us the Test series." Akmal stated.

He praised Australia for playing quality cricket despite missing six to seven key players and suggested Pakistani players to change their mindset.

"Australia is missing six-seven of their key player still, they are performing well. We need to change our mindsets." Akmal added

Kamran also criticized the current cricket system and expressed his disappointment with the selection criteria of the Pakistan cricket team.

"In PSL, the one who hits two or three sixes or bowls fast is selected in the team. Our priority is only PSL, there is no focus on grassroots cricket". Kamran said.

"If the existing system remains, Pakistan cricket will be completely abolished. No quality player has emerged from this system for three years, and there are no backups of Azhar Ali, Babar Azam and other players". Kamran stated.

"When Imran Khan will not be there, the people supporting the current domestic structure will walk around hiding their faces". Kamran added.

The right-handed batter sarcastically pointed toward the new six teams domestic format and asked where is the quality. He further spoke about the current situation of club cricket and how players are leaving the country due to a lack of opportunity.

"They made six-team format for domestic under the slogan of quality. Where is the quality? cricketers frustrated with the system are forced to leave Pakistan and go to Dubai, England and USA."

"In club cricket, there used to be sixty or seventy boys active. Today, only five to ten children are practising," Kamran concluded.
