National cricket team selector Asad Shafiq has emphasized that players who perform well in domestic cricket will be given opportunities.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Shafiq stated that new players have been selected based on their domestic performances.

"Our responsibility is to provide opportunities to players from the domestic circuit," he said.

He further explained that the team is being built with the 2026 World Cup in mind.

"Haseebullah was given a chance in Australia but had to step out due to injury. He will be given another opportunity," he added.

Shafiq also mentioned fast bowler Mushtaq Kalhoro, saying that he is under consideration, along with other players.

"All players are part of our plans, and those who perform in domestic cricket will be given chances. T20 cricket involves high risk, so players need to be tested," he said.

He assured that every player would get a fair chance and clarified that one failed series would not be the sole reason for dropping a player.
