Former captain Ramiz Raja is among contenders for the top PCB role
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) could see a change at the top of the hierarchy after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meeting with Chairman Ehsan Mani, which is set to take place on Monday.
According to sources, former captain Ramiz Raja is being considered as one of the names for the role of chairman.
Current PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani was set for an extension but that changed when some government officials were left unhappy after Pakistan team’s disappointing performance on England tour and mishandling of Kashmir Premier League (KPL).
According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan will recommend two names for the governing board which includes Raja and Dr. Jawad Sajid Khan, chairman of the Lahore Gymkhana. One of these will be elected for the role of PCB chairman.

It must be noted that PM Khan has already appointed Justice (r) Azmat Saeed as the election commissioner to hold the PCB chairman elections.
Sources added that legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has also backed Raja as the chairman as he believes that a cricketer should take the reins of the board bearing in mind the fact that PM Khan also belonged to the same field in the past. However, final decision in this regard is yet to be taken.
The prime minister has also been advised that PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan should be allowed to continue working as Mani did not give him a free hand to accomplish his goals.
