PM Shehbaz Sharif invited for Gaddafi Stadium's foundation stone laying ceremony
Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has decided to invite Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the foundation stone laying ceremony at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
According to a local media report, Sharif will be the chief guest at the ceremony hosted by Naqvi, scheduled for Monday, August 5.
During the event, Sharif will be briefed on the upgrades being made to stadiums in preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025.
Demolition work at Gaddafi Stadium was completed in June, following Naqvi's deadline. The debris has already been cleared.
The main building will be relocated closer to the box, with hospitality boxes in the front and PCB offices at the back. Plans also include expanding the enclosures on either side of the main building.
This upgrade is part of the PCB's preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion for upgrading three stadiums: Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi's National Bank Cricket Arena, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, to ensure they meet the standards for the event.
