Azmatullah Omarzai stars with the ball as Afghanistan register 8 runs win over England
Afghanistan secured a thrilling win over England in the Champions Trophy on Saturday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This victory keeps their semi-final hopes alive as they moved to third place in the points table with two points. Their next challenge will be against Australia at the same venue on Friday, February 28, which will serve as a virtual quarter-final, as the winner of that match will qualify directly for the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
England, on the other hand, has been knocked out of the tournament and will play their last match when they face South Africa on Saturday, March 1, at National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Group B’s next match is set for Friday, February 28, between Afghanistan and Australia in Lahore.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, with the winners of each semi-final facing each other in the final, which will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 9.
Final will move to Dubai if India qualifies for it.
