Afghanistan triumphed over Papua New Guinea (PNG) with a 7-wicket victory at the Brian Lara Stadium on Friday, cementing their place in the second round of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Afghanistan showcased their dominance in a decisive match, effectively chasing down PNG's target. The win not only secured Afghanistan's advancement to the Super 8 round but also resulted in eliminating New Zealand from the tournament.
With this victory, Afghanistan and co-hosts West Indies are confirmed as the top two teams from Group C, earning their spots in the Super 8 round. Both teams have demonstrated consistent performance, paving their way to the next stage of the competition.
The final will be played in Barbados on June 29.
