President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, reached out to injured opener Saim Ayub on Saturday through a phone call to inquire about his condition after he sustained an injury during the final Test against South Africa at Newlands.

Saim Ayub, who twisted his ankle while fielding on the second day of the match, was immediately examined with scans. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Ayub suffered an ankle fracture and has been advised to stay away from competitive cricket for up to six weeks.

According to a PCB statement, "Saim underwent X-rays and MRI tests this afternoon, and the reports have been sent to specialists in London for further advice on treatment and the required recovery time."

During the phone call, President Zardari expressed his well wishes for Ayub's quick recovery, commending the young opener for his remarkable performances in recent matches.

In response, the 22-year-old player thanked the President for his kind gesture and assured him that he was committed to recovering quickly and making a strong return to the field.

Before ending the conversation, President Zardari extended his best wishes to the entire Pakistani team, hoping for continued success.

Saim Ayub, a key figure in Pakistan’s batting lineup, especially in white-ball formats, has been in exceptional form. He impressed everyone during the white-ball tour of Australia, scoring three centuries and one fifty in ODIs since then, along with an unbeaten 98 in T20Is. Recently, he was named Player of the Series in South Africa's ODI series, helping Pakistan secure a 3-0 whitewash over the hosts. Ayub's outstanding performances made Pakistan the only team to achieve such a feat on South African soil.
