Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the national cricket team for their historic six-wicket win over South Africa in the Tri-Nation Series on Wednesday, where they achieved their highest-ever successful run chase in One Day Internationals.

Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan both scored centuries, with Agha making 134 runs off 103 balls and Rizwan finishing unbeaten on 122 runs from 128 balls. The duo shared a remarkable 260-run partnership for the fourth wicket, guiding Pakistan to a target of 353 runs with six balls to spare.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation in a post on social media platform X, stating that the win provided an important boost ahead of the Champions Trophy. He praised the team and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, as well as the team management.

"An important boost ahead of the Champions Trophy. Well done, Pakistan! Kudos to team management and Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi. Let us hope this winning streak continues with more impressive performances," he said.

The victory was a significant milestone for Pakistan, raising hopes for further success in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 which is set to begin on February 19, with hosts Pakistan facing New Zealand in the event opener.
