Dimuth Karunaratne, the Sri Lankan Test captain, recently paid tribute to Aleem Dar, the renowned Pakistani umpire, on his retirement from international cricket umpiring.

Karunaratne expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the services that Dar had provided to the sport of cricket over the years.

In a tweet on Friday, Karunaratne hailed Dar as one of the greatest umpires to have ever graced the sport.

Karunaratne's tribute to Dar comes at a time when the cricket world is bidding farewell to one of its finest umpires.

Dar recently announced his decision to step down from the International Cricket Council (ICC) Elite Panel of Umpires after serving for 19 years. His last match was the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Ireland, which ended in a seven-wicket win for Bangladesh.

Dar had been a member of the Elite Panel since its establishment in 2002 and had officiated more Tests and ODIs than any other umpire. He has been awarded the ICC Umpire of the Year award on three separate occasions, in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Karunaratne's tribute to Dar is a testament to the respect and admiration that the Pakistani umpire has earned from his peers and players alike. His retirement from international cricket umpiring marks the end of an era in the sport, and his contribution to the game will always be remembered and appreciated.
