Multan Sultans lost their last four matches in a row, bringing their PSL 10 campaign to an early end
Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed his disappointment after his team was officially knocked out of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 following a heavy defeat against Karachi Kings on Thursday.
The Kings, opting to bat first, put up a strong total of 204/4 in their 20 overs. James Vince led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten 65 off 45 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Middle-order batters Muhammad Irfan Khan (40) and Khushdil Shah (33) also played crucial cameos, helping the team cross the 200-run mark.
For Multan, Ubaid Shah picked up two wickets but was expensive, conceding 49 runs in his four overs. Curtis Campher and David Willey chipped in with one wicket each.
In reply, Multan Sultans never got going and were bowled out for just 117 in 16.1 overs. The loss confirmed their early elimination from the tournament.
Speaking after the match, Rizwan reflected on the team’s poor performance and admitted that repeating the same mistakes throughout the tournament cost them dearly.
“I think we’re now out of the tournament,” Rizwan said.
“It probably makes things easier for the other teams now that qualification scenarios are clear. We lost momentum at crucial times, and in T20 cricket, that makes all the difference. Unfortunately, we kept making the same mistakes,” he added.
Multan had a rough start to the season, losing their opening match to Karachi Kings by four wickets. The struggles continued with losses to defending champions Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. They managed one win against Lahore Qalandars, beating them by 33 runs at home, but failed to carry that momentum forward.
The Sultans lost their next four matches in a row, bringing their PSL 10 campaign to an early end.
