Multan Sultans have now managed only one win in their last eight matches
Multan Sultans have officially been eliminated from Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 after suffering a crushing defeat to Karachi Kings in Match 20 at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing a massive target of 205 runs, Multan had a disastrous start. Captain Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for a second-ball duck in the second over by Abbas Afridi, with the team at just 3-1. The next over added to their woes, as Mir Hamza removed Usman Khan for only one run.
Multan's top order collapsed quickly under pressure. Yasir Khan tried to fight back with a quick 26 off 17 balls but became the third wicket to fall within the powerplay, leaving Multan at 34-3 in just 4.2 overs.
Kamran Ghulam was the only batter to show some stability in the middle order, staying at the crease and scoring 29 runs. However, he received little support from the other end, pushing Multan to 76-5 in 10.2 overs.
The collapse continued as Michael Bracewell (2) and David Willey (0) fell cheaply, reducing Multan to 85-7. Kamran Ghulam was later dismissed by Khushdil Shah, and Mohammad Nabi cleaned up the tail, finishing with three wickets. Mir Hamza took the final wicket of Ubaid Shah (14), ending the innings at just 117.
Multan Sultans have now managed only one win in their last eight matches and are officially out of the race for the PSL 10 playoffs.
Earlier in the match, Karachi Kings chose to bat first and got off to a flying start, thanks to openers Tim Seifert and captain David Warner.
Despite losing Omair Bin Yousuf early for 1 in the middle, the Kings built momentum through a key partnership between Irfan Khan Niazi and James Vince.
At the 12-over mark, Karachi stood strong at 112-3, with Niazi on 39 and Vince on 33. The duo added 78 runs for the fourth wicket before Campher removed Niazi for 40. James Vince continued to impress with a steady innings, reaching another half-century.
In the final overs, Khushdil Shah played a fiery cameo, smashing 33 runs off just 13 balls. Karachi Kings ended their innings at an imposing 204-4, with Vince unbeaten on 65.
With this dominant win, Karachi boosted their playoff hopes while ending Multan Sultans’ campaign in PSL 10.
