Peshawar Zalmi has announced open trials at the iconic Arbab Niaz Stadium as part of its preparations for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The trials, scheduled to begin on January 1, 2025, mark an important step in bringing cricket back to Peshawar. The franchise, which won the PSL title in 2017, shared the news on its social media, expressing excitement about this milestone.

“Officials from Peshawar Zalmi and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government visited Arbab Niaz Stadium to review the ongoing construction ahead of the #HBLPSLDraft,” the statement read. “We’re thrilled to announce that we are bringing cricket to our home soon, kicking off our #HBLPSL10 campaign with open trials.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jahan, confirmed that the stadium’s construction would be completed by February 15, ensuring it will be ready to host PSL matches.

Jahan, who visited the venue with Peshawar Zalmi’s Director Mohammad Akram, Director General of Sports Abdul Nasir, and other officials, expressed satisfaction with the progress. He assured reporters that funding would not hinder the project and emphasized the government’s commitment to completing the stadium on time.

In a historic move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to hold the PSL 10 draft in Gwadar, Balochistan, for the first time. The draft is set for January 11, 2025, adding a new chapter to the league’s history.
