Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 was held in February and March this year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) prepared an anthem titled "Sab Sitaarey Humaray" for the event. According to the sources, a whooping amount of PKR 4.5 crores was spent on it. Approximately two and a half crores were paid to the artists as their fees. Usually, a Pakistani film is made within a budget of five crores. Therefore, objections can arise in the audit regarding such a huge expenditure solely on the anthem.

The event cost of the opening ceremony was approximately PKR 25 crores, although initially, a lower sum was allocated for the ceremony in the budget.

During Ramiz Raja's tenure, for the opening of PSL 7, four to five crores were spent. However, the new management believed that organizing a grand opening event on a large scale was necessary in order to create hype for the tournament.

Sources further revealed that several expenses exceeded the budget. Different amounts were mentioned on paper for the expenses, while the actual amount spent was higher.

The government has decided to conduct a special audit of the former management committee, starting at the beginning of next month. In this regard, the Federal minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Ehsan Mazari, has stated that if any irregularities are found during the audit, the involved officials will be held accountable, and the money will be recovered from them. No leniency will be shown to those found guilty in this matter.
