Kiwi commentator, Simon Doull, has once again criticised a Pakistani batsman and it is not Babar Azam.

Doull was critical of Mohammad Rizwan’s innings during the Qualifier between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars on Wednesday in Lahore in PSL 8.

While speaking during commentary, Doull said that Rizwan could have been more aggressive in the powerplay.

“33 off 29 and he’s out in the 14th over. It’s just not acceptable. He didn’t hit a boundary in 10 overs. The third over was his last boundary. You’ve got to take more risks than that,” Doull said.

“This is a game where you get a second chance, so this is the game you take risks. This is the game you try and put the side under pressure, in case you have to play them again. This is where you show your wares, because if you do lose going for it, it doesn’t matter. The point is, this is a game where you can express yourself, do whatever you want to do, and that powerplay was just not good enough,” he added.

This is not the first time Doull has criticized Rizwan, as he also suggested that the Sultans' skipper initially struggled to get going in his innings against Karachi Kings earlier in the season.

“I hate to say it, but he’s just got to get off,” Doull said. “He’s striking at 109, you’ve got enormous power to come, just leave the field, chief. You are the skipper, do the right thing by your team. You can’t run the twos quickly. You’re not helping your mate at the other end. I’d say just go off, get treatment, you’ve done your job,” Doull had said.

However, the wicketkeeper-batsman upped the ante after reaching his fifty in 42 balls.

Rizwan created history as he took only 18 balls to get to his hundred from fifty, completing his century in just 60 balls. It was the fastest 50 to 100 acceleration by any Pakistani batter in PSL history.
