The opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fourth edition is unlikely to take place in the country after the proposal of hosting PSL4 opening ceremony in Pakistan was rejected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The PSL franchises had tabled a proposal last month to look into the possibilities of holding the opening ceremony in Pakistan, but the PCB has rejected the proposal on security grounds.

According to sources, PCB officials are not in favour of the move as it is believed that the security situation in the country will become a hurdle in hosting a full-fledged opening ceremony; one that will include fireworks as well.

It is also believed that because of the security conditions, the use of other high-tech equipment will also prove to be quite problematic.

PCB has already decided to host eight matches in the country in next year’s PSL, where both Karachi and Lahore will host four matches each.
