The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have decided to inform the Prime Minister Imran Khan of the issues being faced in the build up to the fifth edition of the league.

The team owners are unhappy with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB)'s response to their demands. According to details various outstanding issues remain between the PCB and the PSL franchises.

The teams have asked the board to refrain from cashing their cheques, until the matters of receiving their revenue shares along with its overall increase are not resolved.

The PCB, however, responded by asking the franchises to fulfil their financial obligations within 48 hours or risk the concessions granted to them earlier.

It should be noted that the board set a fixed dollar rate of 138, increased broadcast revenue shares and accepted cheques instead of bank guarantees. However, the franchises are demanding a larger share in the revenue.

According to sources, an email by a junior officer has left the franchise owners unhappy. The franchises claim that the PCB is earning a massive amount from the PSL whereas the franchises, that have invested a huge sum, are not provided with their due share.

The cheques submitted to the PCB by the franchises were dated for November 20. According to sources at least three franchises were against withholding the cheques, while two franchises usually delay the process and one franchise is in dire financial straits.
