Central Punjab were 212/8 in their first innings at stumps on day two and trail Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 88 runs in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final.

Qasim Akram and Ahmed Safi Abdullah were unbeaten on 35 and 0 runs, respectively, at the end of the day’s play.

Usman Salahuddin (60) and Saad Naseem (55) scored fifties for the defending champions.

KP’s Irfanullah Shah registered figures of 4/45 and was the pick of the bowlers.

Earlier, resuming their innings on the overnight score of 285/7, KP were dismissed for 300 in 97.5 overs.

Kamran Ghulam, highest run-scorer in QeA Trophy this season, top-scored with 76 runs, while Adil Amin and Israrullah scored 75 and 61 runs, respectively.

For CP, captain Hasan Ali claimed 4/62 runs and continued his good run of form in the event. Fellow pacer Waqas Maqsood bagged figures of 3/59.
