Quetta Gladiators’ coach Moin Khan revealed that the franchise was a great platform for young stars as evidenced by the rise of players such as Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah and Azam Khan.

The former wicketkeeper-batsman believed that the presence of senior players such as Chris Gayle, Dale Steyn and Cameron Delport would provide an even bigger boost for the youngsters in the side.

“Quetta Gladiators has always provided good youngsters. Hasnain is our product. Naseem Shah, Azam Khan, Saim Ayub and Hassan have played with us. All these products are now at the doors of the national side. Hasnain has already done well with the team. The senior players such as Dale Steyn, Chris Gayle and Cameron Delport will give a big boost to the youngsters in the side,” Khan said.

The 49-year-old stressed the need for the team to bond ahead of the major event while claiming that the staff would strive to create a good atmosphere for the players in the side.

“Naturally because all players aren’t available yet, hence the position isn’t completely clear. We are practicing while the Covid season continues. This has caused a little bit of problems but we need a little time for the team to bond. So we will see the team bond and we can see progress match by match. The good thing is that we selected a good team this time around. The composition is really good. It includes a combination of seniors and youngsters. Unfortunately last time our schedule was really tough. We also had travelling issues. Then Umar Akmal had an issue which affected our team’s composition deeply,” he said.

“We had a good team last year as well but unfortunately we faced a setback right before the start of the tournament. We will need to overcome it and that will happen if the team bonds together. We are trying to create a good atmosphere. I don’t think we will have any problems this time around,” he concluded.
