Islamabad United opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, revealed that he had a chat with Peshawar Zalmi skipper, Babar Azam, before the clash between the two teams on Thursday in HBL PSL 8.

The 21-year-old said that he had taken tips from the Zalmi captain and observed his innings during the aforementioned match, which helped him in playing a destructive 31-ball 62 runs inning.

"Today, the one thing that I changed in my batting was that I also focused on some strike rotation as well. Before I was just trying to hit too hard but today my focus was also in some cricket good cricket shots,” said Gurbaz.

"I spoke to Babar before the match and asked about his mindset while batting. He shared his experience with me. So I just applied that and it helped me a lot. Earlier, I was trying to hit every ball but today I saw Babar Azam's batting as well when he was in. And I was just focused on that how he hits the boundaries," he added.

Gurbaz spanked seven fours and four sixes in an exciting 31-ball knock and thrashed the Peshawar Zalmi bowlers all around the dial. His knock came to an end in the eighth over when he was deceived by Usman Qadir – whom he had smashed for three fours in an over in the Powerplay – but the match had pretty much settled in Islamabad United’s favour by then.

Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets – thanks to Gurbaz and Hasan Ali’s scorching three for 35 – at the National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi.
