The highly anticipated inaugural edition of the Global Super League (GSL) will commence on November 26, promising thrilling action as five global franchises compete for the coveted US$1 million prize fund. The tournament will feature the host team Guyana Amazon Warriors, alongside top teams from Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, and Australia, with Lahore Qalandars (Pakistan), Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh), Hampshire (England), and Victoria (Australia) completing the lineup.

Rangpur Riders, one of the standout teams from Bangladesh, have already confirmed their 13-member squad for the tournament. The squad includes several experienced players, such as captain-candidate Nurul Hasan Sohan, Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain, and Mahedi Hasan. Sohan, who led Rangpur in the last edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), is expected to continue in the captaincy role for GSL 2024.

Rangpur showed impressive form in the 2023 BPL but narrowly missed out on a spot in the final after a six-wicket defeat to Fortune Barishal in Qualifier 2. Barishal went on to win the tournament, and though they were initially invited to participate in GSL 2024, they declined the offer. Rangpur, however, accepted the invitation, making them a major contender in the inaugural edition of the GSL.

An interesting twist to Rangpur's squad is that none of their overseas signings will be available for the tournament. Despite this, the franchise has secured the services of West Indies pacer Matthew Forde, USA's Harmeet Singh, England’s Wayne Madsen, and Zak Chappell to strengthen their side. The team has also appointed Mickey Arthur as their head coach for GSL 2024, continuing his tenure for the next BPL edition as well.

Rangpur Riders will begin their GSL campaign with a match against Hampshire on November 28, followed by fixtures against Victoria on December 1, Guyana Amazon Warriors on December 5, and Lahore Qalandars on December 6.
