Former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif has voiced his disapproval of the Pakistan cricket team following their organization of a private dinner costing $25 per attendee.

This event took place in the United States just before the commencement of their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.

During this dinner, fans were given the opportunity to interact with some players for a fee.

In a video posted by Latif on social media, he criticized the decision to charge fans for meeting the players, arguing that it was inappropriate and potentially problematic.

"There are official dinners, but this is a private dinner. Who can do this? It's terrible. That means you met our players in 25 dollars. God forbid, had there been a mess, people would have said boys are earning money," Latif was quoted as saying by Times Now.

Latif also noted a troubling trend where Pakistan players are increasingly being approached with monetary offers for appearances.

"People tell me that whoever calls the Pakistan players, they just ask, 'how much money will you give?' This has become common. Things were different at our time, we had 2-3 dinners but they were official. But this is highlighted because it's the World Cup," Latif added.

The Men in Green will start their T20 World Cup campaign against US on June 6 in Dallas.
