England's young mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, who took a five-wicket haul in his debut, penned a touching letter to his mother following his outstanding Test debut for England.

Rehan's performance contributed to his team's victory in the third Test in Karachi and, consequently, the series sweep.

After the match ended, Ahmed first tweeted, "I can’t put into words how I feel. Without my mother's prayers, I would never have gotten to this stage. I’m forever grateful to my mum, who unfortunately couldn’t be here with me. However, her prayers are always with me regardless."

The young spinner has also registered for the upcoming IPL mini-auction, which is scheduled to take place on December 23, and has set his base price at INR 40 lakhs. The head coach of England's red-ball team, Brendon McCullum, believes that Ahmed will gain exposure while playing in the IPL.

"It would be great. It would be awesome if he did. I've been involved with the IPL a couple of times, so sometimes it works out for guys, and sometimes it doesn't,” the England head coach said, “Why not? Why not get an opportunity to go and play under different coaches and captains and rub shoulders with different players and pick up those experiences?”

“What 18-year-old kid anywhere else in world cricket is going to get those chances? I think we should encourage it," McCullum said.
