Sri Lanka's injury woes continue as their star wrist spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga, has been sidelined for the rest of the ODI series against India due to a left hamstring injury. Jeffrey Vandersay, a 34-year-old legspinner, has been called up to replace Hasaranga for the final two ODIs.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) announced on Saturday that Hasaranga experienced pain in his left hamstring while delivering the last ball of his 10th over during the first ODI. An MRI confirmed the injury, ruling him out of the series.

Hasaranga's injury adds to Sri Lanka's growing list of sidelined players. Dilshan Madushanka (hamstring) and Matheesha Pathirana (shoulder) were already out of the ODIs before the series began, while Dushmantha Chameera (bronchitis and respiratory infection) and Nuwan Thushara (thumb) were ruled out before the T20I series that preceded the ODIs.

The first ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo ended dramatically, with India falling just one run short of Sri Lanka's target of 231, resulting in a tie.

Hasaranga was instrumental in the match, taking 3 for 58 and contributing a crucial 24 runs to support Dunith Wellalage's efforts with the bat.

The second ODI is scheduled to be played at the same venue on Sunday.
