India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently in Sri Lanka, where the team has already secured the T20I series with a 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match contest.

Before this series, Pant was part of the victorious Indian squad that clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 title by defeating South Africa in the final at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

In an exclusive interview at a local channel, Pant has named former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist as his idol.

He praised Gilchrist’s explosive batting and exceptional wicketkeeping, attributes that he has long admired.

"Adam Gilchrist has always been my idol," Pant said.

"His fearless approach to both wicketkeeping and batting has been a great source of inspiration for me. Gilchrist's ability to turn games with his explosive performances and his sportsmanship and consistency were remarkable. He was a game-changer while upholding the spirit of the game, and I aspire to bring that same level of impact and dynamism to my own cricket," he added.

Following the T20I series, Pant will join the Indian squad for the ODI series starting August 2.
