Rizwan looks set for a long career behind the stumps: Brad Hogg

Australia’s former cricketer Brad Hogg, in a tweet on Wednesday, praised the skills of Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan while claiming that he looked set for a long career behind the stumps for the Men in Green.

The 49-year-old stated that the Pakistan selectors made a tough but good decision by bringing the talented wicketkeeper into the side.

“Rizwan looks set for a long career behind the stumps. Enjoyed his keeping and batting this series, performed under tough conditions. Tough but good call by the Pakistan selectors,” Hogg tweeted.

Rizwan was named Pakistan’s player of the series, having scored 161 runs at an average of 40.25 along with five successful catches behind the stumps and a successful stumping, against England.

The 28-year-old was almost universally praised for his solid wicketkeeping especially in contrast to the struggles of England’s wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, who had multiple failed catching and stumping attempts behind the stumps during the three-match series.

Rizwan was instrumental for Pakistan’s attempts to reaching decent totals after scoring 72 runs in the second Test at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman followed it up with another solid 53-run knock in the third Test which helped Pakistan play out to a draw.
