Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has revealed that leg-spinner Yasir Shah urged him to score a century inorder to be considered a proper batsman.

Rizwan scored his maiden hundred to help Pakistan set South Africa a target of 370 runs on the fourth day of the second Test in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

“Yasir Shah said to me that I will only consider you as a proper batsman if you score a hundred, as even I can score fifties. So I took that on board and wanted to ensure that I made a hundred today,” said Rizwan during a virtual press conference after the end of day’s play.

Rizwan was also confident about winning the Test match and series despite fightback by South Africa on day four. The visitors were 127/1 at stumps on day four, needing 243 more runs to win.

“Partnerships are part of a Test match. We built partnerships, similarly South African also did the same. However we only discussed in the team meeting that we're playing Rawalpindi Test to win. We will get them all-out and win the test series 2-0,” he said.

Pakistan led the two-match series one-nil after winning the first Test in Karachi by seven wickets.
