Following consistent failures in international cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has directed captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli to play domestic cricket.

According to Indian media, a BCCI meeting was held to review the recent failures in Test cricket, particularly the poor performances of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Australia.

During the meeting, it was decided that all players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will be required to play domestic cricket in order to be eligible for selection in the national Test team.

The BCCI has made it clear that the previous selection policies based on past performance, seniority, and big names will no longer apply. To represent India, players will now be required to play in the Ranji Trophy.
