National T20 Cup record-breaking batter Sahibzada Farhan has secured a spot in the Islamabad United squad for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, the defending champions announced on Friday.

The right-handed opening batter, who made headlines with his exceptional performances in the National T20 Cup, has been picked in the supplementary category for PSL 10.

“We are pleased to announce Sahibzada Farhan as our 20th squad member for HBL PSL X,” Islamabad United said in a statement.

Farhan's PSL journey began in 2018 with Islamabad United, when he joined the team as an emerging player. He was part of the Lahore Qalandars last year during PSL 9.

“He played a key role in helping United lift its second PSL title. His standout performances in the recent National T20 Cup and overall domestic form have earned him a PSL contract with us,” the franchise added.

Head coach Mike Hesson also shared his thoughts on Farhan’s inclusion in the squad for PSL 10, saying, “The side always looks to build bench strength with players who are match-ready. Sahibzada’s domestic form and experience make him someone who can slot into the XI whenever required and deliver.”

Sahibzada Farhan, who was not picked in the PSL 10 draft on January 13, caught the attention of many with his record-breaking performances for Peshawar Region in the National T20 Cup. He amassed 605 runs in just seven innings, including three centuries, setting a new record for the most runs in a single edition of the National T20 Cup.

The 29-year-old also became only the fifth batter globally to score three centuries in a T20 tournament, joining an elite list of players. His explosive knock of 162* in the National T20 Cup also marked the joint third-highest score in T20 history.
