Pakistan’s selectors are considering the inclusion of Saim Ayub in the squad. However, if he is unable to achieve full fitness, a replacement can be requested through the tournament’s technical committee
As the deadline for submitting preliminary squads for the ICC Champions Trophy approaches, teams have until 11:59 PM on January 11 to finalize their initial player lists.
Pakistan’s selectors are considering the inclusion of young opener Saim Ayub in the squad. However, if Saim is unable to achieve full fitness, a replacement can be requested through the tournament’s technical committee.
It is important to note that teams can make changes to their squads without ICC approval until February 11, from February 12 onwards, any changes will require approval from the technical committee.
Saim Ayub is currently undergoing treatment after suffering a fracture in his right ankle while fielding on the first day of the second Test against South Africa. The injury has ruled him out of cricket for six weeks. The talented opener has travelled from Cape Town to London to continue his recovery.
His inclusion in the Champions Trophy squad will depend on his fitness progress, and the selectors are keeping alternatives in mind as they prepare for the tournament.
