Pakistan cricket team Head Coach Saqlain Mushtaq has confirmed that Shaheen Shah will miss the second Test match against Sri Lanka.

The left-arm pacer picked up an injury on Day 4 of the first Test match on the field. The MRI was done and no serious problem was deduced but Shaheen will be rested.

"Fast bowler undergoing injury is normal but Shaheen Shah Afridi will be missed in the second test at Galle. He is aggressive, inspirational and leads from the front. We hope other fast bowlers will step up and fill the boots of Shaheen Afridi," said Saqlain.

It was reported earlier that either Haris Rauf or Naseem Shah would replace the pacer. There is a good chance that Pakistan management might also replace Shaheen with a spinner instead.

However, Naseem Shah received massive praise from the Head Coach as he labelled him as a "complete potential."

"Naseem Shah is a very talented fast bowler and has complete potential. The management has faith in his abilities. He has bowled exceptional spell against Australia recently and has marked all the check boxes being a fast bowler," the Head Coach further added.

Pakistan are set to take on Sri Lanka in the second Test match on June 24. The Men in Green will be looking to secure the series with this match and move up in the ICC World Test Championship rankings as well.
