Sarfaraz Ahmad makes history to register Pakistan record in Test cricket

Sarfaraz Ahmed makes history as the first Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman to achieve a significant milestone in Test Cricket.

In a remarkable feat, Sarfaraz Ahmed has become the first wicketkeeper from Pakistan to reach the illustrious landmark of 3000 Test runs. This historic achievement was accomplished during the ongoing Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Galle.

Throughout his career, Sarfaraz has displayed exceptional batting skills and has contributed immensely to Pakistan's success in the longest format of the game. With this milestone, he has etched his name in the annals of Pakistani cricket history.

Having played 91 Test innings, Sarfaraz has showcased his consistency and resilience at the crease. He has notched up an impressive tally of four centuries and 21 half-centuries, showcasing his ability to convert starts into substantial scores. However, he failed to play a big innings in the aforementioned Test as he was dismissed for 17 by Prabath Jayasuriya.

Prior to Sarfaraz's achievement, it was Moin Khan who held the record for the most runs by a wicketkeeper in Test cricket for Pakistan, amassing a total of 2741 runs. However, Sarfaraz has surpassed this mark, solidifying his position as one of the premier wicketkeeper-batsmen in his country's cricketing history.

Interestingly, during the same innings, another Pakistani batsman, Abdullah Shafique, reached a personal milestone of 1000 runs in Test cricket. Unfortunately, Shafique's innings was cut short as he got out for 19 runs by Jayasuriya.
