Sarfaraz Ahmed, the former Pakistan captain, has officially parted ways with Quetta Gladiators, marking the end of a memorable nine-year association with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise. The announcement was made on Sunday through Sarfaraz’s Instagram account, where he expressed gratitude to the team and its management.

“Today I want to tell you that my time with Quetta Gladiators has come to an end,” Sarfaraz wrote. “I feel very proud that my journey of 9 years with this amazing team has been wonderful and beautiful.”

Sarfaraz also thanked franchise owner Nadeem Omar for his support and the opportunities provided during his time with the Gladiators. “I will always remember your support throughout this time. My best wishes will always be with your team,” he added, extending special thanks to team manager Azam.

Sarfaraz joined the Gladiators during the inaugural PSL season in 2016 and became an integral part of the team. Over the years, he played 86 matches for the franchise, scoring 1525 runs at an average of 29.32, including seven half-centuries. His leadership peaked in 2019 when he guided the Gladiators to their first and only PSL title.

Despite his contributions, Sarfaraz was released by the Gladiators earlier this month, making him eligible for the PSL draft for the first time in his career. In the last season, he was replaced as captain by South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw.
