Former Pakistan captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, shed light on his experience playing alongside and communicating with the new Quetta Gladiators' coach, Shane Watson.

In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Sarfaraz expressed appreciation for the invaluable guidance provided by Watson when they played together.

"The experience of playing alongside Shane Watson was very good and he was extremely helpful. His worldwide T20 experience will be very valuable. The way T20 cricket is played, he played it that way. Having him in the dugout will benefit the team greatly," Sarfaraz said.

Furthermore, Sarfaraz also talked about Watson's proactive approach to coaching.

"He [Shane Watson] will discuss plans with the team according to their own perspective and will lead the team forward," he added.

Despite acknowledging communication with Watson through WhatsApp and phone calls, Sarfaraz clarified that discussions about specific strategies had not yet taken place.

"I have talked to him via WhatsApp and phone, but there was no discussion about any strategy. As coaches usually have one-on-one conversations with players, as he did with me. Now that he is coming to Lahore, there will certainly be more discussions," he further added.

It is important to note that in a recent development, after thorough deliberations by the team management and Watson, Rilee Rossouw has been announced as the new Gladiators captain replacing Sarfaraz. Alongside Rossouw, Saud Shakeel has been named as the vice-captain of the team, indicating a new era of leadership for the franchise.
