Former Pakistan skipper will be looking to change the club's fortune after a disappointing first captain which saw them finish at the bottom of the table
Kotli Lions, one of the eight Kashmir Premier League (KPL) franchises, has announced the signing of Sarfaraz Ahmed as their icon player.
Veteran cricketer and former Pakistan national team captain will also lead Kotli Lions in the tournament's second edition, which will kick off in August.
Sarfaraz Ahmed was featured in a video posted on KPL's official social media accounts. The 2017 ICC Champions League winning captain thanked the franchise owner Khalid Zia for bringing him on board.
"I will be representing Kotli Lions in this year’s KPL. I want to thank franchise owners Khalid Zia and Faisal for selecting me as their icon player," he said.

Adding to his announcement, Sarfaraz remained hopeful and claimed to make the Kotli Lion's a strong side for this year's competition.
"We will try to make a strong team for this year and win the tournament. I am ready for live KPL action, are you?"
The inaugural season was won by Rawalakot Hawks which Shahid Afridi led whereas the other team in the final was being captained by another Pakistani veteran all-arounder Mohammad Hafeez.
